The work of 20 Canadian artists extends 24 km along the SkyTrain route from Vancouver to Surrey. WITHOUT CUTTING ANYTHING AND <br /> SIMULTANEOUSLY WHEN I FIRST SET THESE UP IN THE STUDIO I WAS A BIT SURPRISED AT HOW <br /> <br /> I’M GOING TO START IN THE MIDDLE THEN WORK DOWN TO THE GROUND AND UP TO THE SKY <br /> <br /> SIMULTANEOUSLY WASHERS AND DRYERS WERE A PRACTICAL CHOICE I WAS ABLE TO GET A LOT OF MATERIAL FOR NOTHING THAT’S IMPORTANT I’M PAYING THOSE HIGH GAS PRICES TOO THE DIMENSIONS OF THE APPLIANCES WERE JUST RIGHT BELIEVE IT OR NOT ONCE THEY’VE BEEN STRIPPED THEY CAN BE MOVED AROUND FAIRLY EASILY BY ONE PERSON WHICH MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO WORK ON THIS SCALE WITHOUT THE NEED FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT I LIKE THE FACT THAT I’M RECYCLING THIS METAL BUT THAT WASN’T A PRIMARY CONCERN FOR WHAT I’M DOING WITH THEM IT WAS NECESSARY TO FIND FORTY MACHINES WITH&nbsp; The tapestry was removed from the station to be cleaned but, because there was a dispute between the donor of the work and the Montreal Metro organization, it was never returned. The delays in construction schedules at Complexe Desjardins prevented the celebration of this event. According to Lise Lamarche, the artist was forced to insert a medallion of Alphonse Desjardins and excerpts from his speeches. The sculpture was unveiled on November 22, 1975. The work was relocated in 1995 because of renovation work at Complexe Desjardins. The project aims to create a permanent public park where the words of the French language and their definitions would be printed on small plates and planted in the ground, creating a harmonious landscape with the surrounding nature. The Park would be divided into Word Districts, from A to Z.
