Stephanie Caribou, Bobby Coutu, Gabriel Kematch, Samantha Hiebert, Destiny Dawn Sutherland, five Aboriginal/Metis youth-at-risk, were chosen for the opportunity to learn from an Elder the customary use of ceremonial flags. They were taught for five weeks by artistic professionals to learn skills in community development as well as artistic and practical skills in digital media. They worked with Aboriginal artists Scott Stephens (photographer ), Sébastien Aubin (designer) and KC Adams (visual artist). The five artists set out to engage in the local Aboriginal community by photographing participants at The Manito Ahbee International Competition Pow Wow competition in November of 2008.After digitally altering their photographs to create a total of 90 flags, the images were compiled to create 3 public artworks, three billboards fitting 30 flags each.

Description:

The artist installed ten metallic boxes throughout the city of Montreal. Each of these "temporary monuments" featured a drawing or a black and white photograph of an earlier public manifestation of disorder. Each location was chosen in relation to each event. Text appears under each image, relating a fictitious testimony. An automatic sprayer sprays an essential oil fragrance that evoke the chosen public event. In four Montreal public bookstores, the artist also set up areas with displays of books about the sense of smell.
