Sculptural grouping consisting in four small components on which architectural motifs appear - volutes, banister, railing. Two larger components are also installed. The project is invested with a memory of the original houses. The installation forms a dialogue with the inhabited houses surrounding the retirement home, allowing the residents to truly feel at home. Making optimal use of the numerous viewpoints onto the neighbourhood, the sculpture creates a link between the environment of the retirement home (interior) and that of its neighbourhood (exterior), in ways that are at once metaphorical, symbolic, spiritual and emotional.

Description:

On the ground floor, round and square pictorial artworks as well as a few birds constitute the signage to the next floors.

Level 1:

The square shape represents the idea of home. Pictorial works show luminous clouds, an ethereal sky, reflections on water or the sea. Aluminium squares featuring an engraved poem are also inlcuded and a pictorial work runs along a glass box that houses a bird's nest.

Level 2:

Round paintings and aluminium circles featuring an engraved poem run along the corridors.

Description:

Built around the presence of an architectural element embedded in the middle of a series of windows, the artwork represents the deployment of a tree. The tree spreads out horizontally into seven sections that occupy the upper windows. Two sheets of glass enclose letter-shaped cookie cutters that are distributed randomly.

Description:

Two sculptures indicate the entrance way to the hospital's day center. They are installed asymmetrically on the railings of the bridge connecting the street to the building's main entrance. Description:

A totem pole is topped by a leafy cabin in which a hare may be living. The artwork is made up of four components: a totem pole, a cabin, a tortoise and a hare. Each element carries its own story. The totem pole connects heaven and earth. The cabin, like a treehouse, is the perfect hiding place for any child. A strong and patient tortoise inhabits this place along with a nervous hare who is always ready to jump around. The names of 600 children who have been treated in this pavilion are engraved on the totem pole.

"I found in three main sources: first, I researched the Grace archives and annual reports going back several decades; second, I explored around inside the building, and I used some of the printed signs and messages I found posted up on walls and taped inside cupboards; third, and perhaps the most telling of all in conveying what these panels commemorate, was when I was in the building, just after it closed, I found graffiti written on the walls by the staff during the last days they worked there. These messages echo the staff’s own heartfelt feelings about the Grace, and I’ve brought some of these messages forward by transcribing them onto these panels. Otherwise, not many people would have ever seen them."

Description:

Sculptural installation composed of a text box and various three-dimensional objects, either reproduced in silkscreen or carved. In a frame, a document entitled "A false true story" explains the different stages of the discovery of a fictitious statue during construction work on the pavilion. To the left of the text, protruding shapes reproduce recovered fragments in miniature form. Nearby, silkscreen reproductions are affixed to wooden structures, representing a statue lying on its side, severed into three parts. At each extremity, books produced using the same process are set standing up.

Fine blue roots are painted onto a surface composed of twelve wooden boxes that have been dyed white. The central element, located in the foreground, is divided into three parts. On the bottom, handwritten texts, dating from 1903 and found in pharmaceutical archives, are engraved onto each other on a steel surface that has been finished with a patina. The central part is backlit and displays a digital print of roots. The top part represents a tree trunk.

Description:

The artwork is embedded into the window of an ancient wall. The work is a transcription of the founding text of the Grey Nuns religious order. The text is written on engraved brass sheets and inserted in three semi-circular arches in the wall.

The hospital's first church was built by the Charon brothers. It was built in 1693. The existing stone wall on the site dates back to the original construction.

In 1872, the chapel was demolished in good part to allow for the extension of St-Pierre Street.

In 1991, the stone wall and the vestry (built in 1771) were restored.
