Artwork creator(s):
Boyer, Gilbert
Text author(s):
Rabelais, François
Installation year:
2002 Description:
The artwork consists of a long glass wall installed under a light shaft. Messages, sentences, words, handwritten or typographical signs as well as declarations collected from the institution's students and teachers appear on the wall. Using sandblasting techniques, all writings were rewritten into disorganized fragments, colourful graffitis or undecipherable codes.
Artwork theme:
Catalyses everyday thought, translates it into different levels of reading, inviting everyone to take back the act of reading and own it. Note(s):
For this artwork, the artist wanted to pay tribute to Rabelais. The "bruit" ("noise") evoked in the title refer to the "frozen words" mentioned in a Rabelais text.
