Description:

Le projet fait la médiation du dialogue entre trois artistes de Kitchener en Ontario et trois artistes de Berlin, en Allemagne. Avant 1916, la Ville de Kitchener portait l'appellation de Berlin. Dans les deux villes, les artistes agissent comme des « guides », ils choisissent un site d'une importance particulière pour eux raconter une histoire dans leur langue maternelle. Les artistes ont aussi agir comme des « interprètes » en répondant à des vidéos dans leur langue.

Power at Home

Artwork theme:

La ligne de démarcation entre la propagande et la publicité est fine. Star Power se présente au spectateur avec une série d'annonces qui mélange l'iconographie communiste et des images de l'hydro-électricité. Les images peuvent confondre le spectateur sur la question de savoir qui a le contrôle de l'énergie électrique en Ontario: un certain consortium de l'extrême gauche, ou une société qui emprunte une image soviétique dans le cadre d'une campagne publicitaire? Placées sur des constructions au centre-ville de Kitchener, l'origine et l'intention des images restent vagues.

L'oeuvre servait de moyen pour présenter le thème du Forum de cette année-là, Le pouvoir aux peuples, à la population de Kitchener, en Ontario. On a demandé à l'artiste de créer une œuvre destinée à être affichée à l'intérieur d'un autobus. Le résultat a donné trois images qui font allusion à la séduction du pouvoir.
