Description:

Cette installation consiste en un gigantesque monolithe, prisme de verre à base rectangulaire, scindé en son centre pour révéler une texture soyeuse rose qui invite au toucher. Le rectangle est recouvert de lettres et l'on peut y voir un extrait d'un texte.

L’exposition Architectures en vers, composée de cinq installations architecturales d’inspiration poétique créées et assemblées par des collectifs d’architectes célèbres ou émergents. Cette exposition est présentée dans le cadre de la programmation de « Montréal, ville de verre 2010 », réalisée par la Société des directeurs de musées montréalais.

Description:

Installation devant le Métro Frontenac d'une robe de marié gelée où les enfants pouvaient entrer sous la jupe par un tunnel dans la neige. Une sorte d'habitation, jupons de mère, igloo. Celle-ci était entourée de draps et de chemises gelés.

before the frightful winter

fades her promises away.

Grab tightly

this little green glimmer of hope,

perhaps today's the day

when luck should come your way.

Four and forty blue birds

nestled in this tree,

above the rattle of traffic

songs of happiness

for one and all to hear.

Hidden by the city lights

stars still chance to shine.

Alas, now's the time

wish, wish, wish.

Oh little yellow flower

why so sad,

surely someone knows

your beauty to be had?

A warm round stone

held in the left hand

brings the promise

of a new found love,

or so I have heard.

The simple white daisy is not

a fortune-teller as claimed

for he may love you

or he may not.

How could she know

something he does not.

Fairy rings circle my lawn

with promises concerning

a land of magical potential.

A white butterfly,

like a changeling in the night

knows not the promises

that keep her secret safe.

A jar sits on my stoop,

gathering more dust

than moonbeams

A rabbit wandered in my garden

a bit of soft-footed luckiness.

« The text became of greater importance, reflecting a subtle and somewhat ironic tone for the project. I realize that this project comes very close to the line of "writer" but I must emphasize that I strongly see my work as a visual product, the material and placement in the urban landscape is crucial to understanding my motivation. Placing these works in the streets, inviting the passerby to become an incidental viewer strongly colors the text.»

32 Days Towards a House of Prayer est installée à la Brown-RISD Hillel Gallery in Providence, Rhode Island, pour l’installation A Wish and a Prayer, en 2008.

Note(s):

Chaque matin, entre le 12 novembre et le 14 décembre 2007, Hall s'est levée pour saluer la journée avec un souhait inscrit sur une petite bande de lin. Par le suite, elle a accroché ce souhait sur une branche d'un arbre près de sa maison à St. John's, Terre-Neuve. Cette pratique quotidienne visait à marquer le changement de l'automne à l'hiver. Lorsque le processus a été terminé, elle a récupéré les chiffons à l'intérieur et les a transformés en une petite maison qui représente l’espoir.

Chaque jour, l'artiste brode sur un tissu une phrase significative extraite d'un des trente-deux chapitres des versions française et anglaise du roman « Bonheur d'occasion » de Gabrielle Roy. Ensuite, ces bandelettes de tissu colorées sont fixées au mur. Une bande sonore diffusée en boucle narre le roman.
