L'artiste canadien présente There is no place like home conçu pour la façade de la Kunsthalle de Vienne. Il s'agit d'un travail réunissant différents protagonistes, couleurs et opinions. Le projet consiste à donner au public les moyens de considérer l'image différemment selon qu'elle est montrée dans l'espace public ou dans l'espace privé. Il questionne plus précisément la construction de l'identité des immigrants dans leur pays d'accueil.

Description:

La Réserve est une installation conçue à partir de l'histoire particulière d'un parc laissé sans affectation par la Ville de Montréal. Une structure, installée au seuil du parc, emprunte à la Ville de Montréal les deux carrés, l'un rouge et l'autre gris qui désignent habituellement ce qui relève de son équipement .

Une valise, mobile et transparente vient compléter ce dispositif. En son sein brille un néon qui dit qu'un cheminement est arrivé à son terme: nous y voilà

La Réserve est une installation de Clément de Gaulejac conçue à partir de l’histoire particulière d’un parc laissé sans affectation par la Ville de Montréal. Ne sachant pas quoi en faire, on avait décidé de ne rien décider et de laisser blanc cet espace sur le plan de la ville. Afin que cette décision par défaut ne soit pas modifiée par l’usage, on entoura le terrain d’une clôture pour en interdire l’accès. En s’y installant en 2006, DARE-DARE a ouvert la clôture et s'est doté d’une cartographie au libellé intrigant: «situé dans un parc sans nom». Clément de Gaulejac décide de s’inscrire dans cette histoire en imaginant un dispositif par lequel ce parc sans nom devient Le parc sans nom.

L’exposition «Transpositions» est conçue sur trois ans. Les oeuvres sont classées en trois volets : le portrait, le paysage et la flore (la nature); et le langage publicitaire. Les projets de vingt artistes canadiens s’étalent sur les 24 km de rails du SkyTrain, depuis Vancouver jusqu’à Surrey. Ils sont installés au hasard, quatre à sept à la fois en nombre, dans un espace réservé aux panneaux publicitaires dans les stations suivantes : Waterfront, Burrard, Grandville, Broadway, Metrotown, New Westminster and Scott Road

Un jour d’octobre en 2003, à Toronto, à la demande de Laurel Woodcock, l’Adler Aviation Company a fait voler un avion tirant derrière lui une bannière sur laquelle était écrit WISH YOU WERE HERE.

Le 15 janvier 2004, à Guelph, l’événement a été répété pendant trente minutes, lors de l’ouverture de l’exposition de l’artiste au Macdonald Stewart Art Centre.

where the bones of amphibious corpses
pile up resemblances along the beaches
unworldly cacophony of ghosts in the landscape
passing through trees as small animals bent
on their own destruction

Sometime tadpole . sometime toad
shape-changers licking their entrails
& recalling the long climb out
of boxes with popped locks
as the ebb tide sucks sand from under rocks
the size of the animal

which has nothing to do with its place in the order
it glides through the classifications
that separate it from all others
the small animals speeds
bored to death with species
shedding its skin to shape new life
dead cells in the swamp of the instant

L’œuvre fut exposée dans le cadre du programme d’art public «Art on Public Lands Project» à Soper Creek Park, organisé par le Visual Arts Centre of Clarington.
«The audio component of Scenic View was recorded on an HHB MDP500 mini-disk recorder, edited on a SAFDiE workstation with noise reduction through a CEDAR DNS1000 unit.» (Rodgers2002, s.p.)
La voix narrative masculine dans la piste sonore est celle du poète Victor Coleman.
Le texte d’O’Callaghan consiste de termes familiers anglais, d’arbres en voie de disparition ou disparus et de leurs termes techniques équivalents en latin. Exemple : «Norway Maple – acer platanoides».
Norman Verrall, technicien de son, a travaillé à la création de la piste sonore accompagnant l’installation. Biographie dans Scenic View 2001 to 2002: Anne O’Callaghan (Rodgers2002).
L’œuvre est en cours d’être reconfigurée. (Échange avec l’artiste).
