Attention à la marche! Mind the Gap!

L’écran d’ordinateur donne corps à la littérature électronique depuis ses débuts. L’interface graphique et ses paramètres techniques constituent le principe premier de cette littérature et en fournit les conditions de création. De manière à réfléchir à l’histoire et au devenir de la littérature électronique, les quatre expositions mettent en valeur 17 oeuvres récentes par l’entremise de systèmes d’exploitation popularisés entre les années 1983 et 2006. Les  thématiques choisies sont Remixes, Chroniques, Intersections et Traductions. Chacune d’elles exploite la notion d’écart en travaillant le texte, l’interface ou l’interactivité.

The computer screen has shaped electronic literature since its beginnings. The graphic interface and its technical parameters define the basic principles of this literature and provide the conditions for its creation. In order to reflect on the history and future of electronic literature, the four exhibits highlight 17 recent works through operating systems popularized between 1983 and 2006. The chosen themes are Remixes, Chronicles, Intersections and Translations. Each of them exploits the notion of gap by working on the text, the interface or the interactivity.
