History: 

The monument dedicated to the memory of René Lévesque was unveiled on June 3, 1999. It is located on the lawn of Parliament Hill, on René-Lévesque Boulevard East, a few steps to the West of Honoré-Mercier Avenue . The bronze statue is the work of sculptor Fabien Pagé. A first statue had the size of the former Prime Minister, i.e. 1.63 meter (5 feet 4 inches). It was replaced with a second statue that stands 2.46 meters (8 feet) tall on August 28, 2001.
