Wolseley area, West End of the city ; located near the convergence of walking paths in the Southeast section of the park.

Description: 

Area residents were invited by the artists to submit phrases which were then inscribed into the sculpture. Each household was asked to provide 5-word phrases that represented a sentiment about the place, a desire or a dream, or the memory of an event that took place in the neighbourhood.

Text theme: 
The phrases reflect upon the importance of the park, the natural environment and neighbourhood spirit, and represent a number of languages including Tagalog, Portuguese, French, English, and Braille.
Artwork theme: 
Table of Contents is a public artwork featuring text gathered from the community through a consultation process. The sculpture also functions as a community picnic table.
Note(s): 

Community members submitted words to the artists. Those were then integrated into the sculpture.

The artwork’s text consists of 60 phrases, none of which exceeds five words.

 

"When working in public space, we always try to respond to all constituencies taking part in the process: the community, the neighbourhood, the people using the park, etc. The art project should become a voice representing all parts of the public sphere.” spmb_projects.
