Dr. Derrick de Kerckhove is former Director of the McLuhan Program in Culture & Technology at the University of Toronto, where he is professor emeritus at the Department of French. He subsequently joined the Faculty of Sociology of the University Federico II in Naples. Presently, he is Visiting Professor at the Politecnico of Milan, scientific director of the Rome based monthly Media Duemila and of the Osservatorio TuttiMedia. He is also research supervisor for the Ph.D. Planetary Collegium N-node (Trento, Italy). He is the author of a dozen books (The skin of Culture, Connected Intelligence, The point of Being, etc.) edited in over ten languages including English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian, Slovenian, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. He is currently Research Director at the Interdisciplinary Internet Institute (IN3) at l'Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona. He is an international expert in those research areas: Neuro-cultural research, Tactile cognition, Technopsychology, Psychotechnology, Art and communication technologies and Connected Intelligence.
