Public Artwork
Quai des départs
Work consisting of a statue, six low reliefs, two vertical structures and one chair, along with an installation in the floor surface. The artwork is set on a dais linking two of the library's reading rooms. A papier mâché sculpture representing a man writing in a notebook is set on the highest step. The character is sitting between two vertical structures, the first of which looks like a wooden column with a square section, and the other consisting two superimposed transparent plexiglas plaques linked by wooden moldings. Writing appears on the plaques, white on one side, black on the other. On the ground, a tiled path directs the attention to the back wall, where the six low reliefs are installed in a row. These consist in paper collages mounted on wooden and metal surfaces. A pine chair is placed in front of the third low relief. Each of these represents a type of literature through the use of a character.
