Le Salon des ombres permet un dialogue entre quatre personnages fictifs et des personnes réelles. L'interaction avec les personnages peut donner lieu à des débats sur des thèmes politiques, philosophiques, scientifiques ou sociologiques. L'intensité des discussions s'organise soit de façon automatique ou selon l'interaction des spectateurs.

Le spectateur peut interagir avec Paula Dawson à travers une série de questions affichées à l'écran.
